New Features: Photo Gallery and Video Player
We've added two new features that make it drop-dead-simple to display photos and videos on your Webvanta sites. All new sites have these features set up automatically. If you have an existing site, let us know and we'll update it for you; each feature has a few pieces (CSS, JavaScript, snippet) that need to be set up.
New Feature: Custom Forms
We just added a much-requested feature: you can now easily create forms with any fields you want, and have the information submitted through those forms added to your database.
Should Designers Write Code?
In the past few months, I've met with dozens of designers to better understand their workflow and their pain points. One of the interesting issues that has come up is the question of just what a web designer does, and what skils they need to have. Dropping IE6 Support for Admin Stuff
For now, we have dropped support for Internet Explorer 6 for site admins. We have some pretty complex JS stuff to make all the in-place editing and so forth work, and IE6 has (surprise!) been especially troublesome. So, at least for the moment, IE6 is not supported for in-place editing. Going forward, unless we hear loud cries of anguish from customers, we'll be dropping IE6 support for all admin functions.New Release: Toolbar Fixes, Performance Improvements, Thumbnail Generation
Earlier this week, we deployed a new version of the Webvanta system that fixes the problem many of you have experienced with the toolbar not appearing unless you manually clear the caches. We've also made a number of performance improvements and added the ability to automatically generate thumbnails when you upload images.
